The PHAT Conference
The PHAT (Promoting Healthy Active Teens) Conference was created in 2006 by teens and adult advisors representing communities across Hampton Roads, Virginia who are passionate about making healthy changes to the community. The conference is held annually to be bring awareness to teen health and highlight nutrition. By using a positive learning environment designed to jump-start the community through innovative workshops and interactive activities that promote positive lifestyles, fitness and nutrition, we hope to leave a lasting imprint. Our event is presented by the Cooper-Mercer Institute (CMI), which supports community programs and projects for under-served members of the community. CMI is a non-profit organization and tax-refundable donations for PHAT can be made through CMI. The program thrust focuses on childhood obesity and wellness. We hope to continue to provide the tools necessary to build healthy communities.
